Specialized Balsa Wood
Home Page |
|
| Our business was
established around January 2001. Jake Zimmer is the main
Managing Member of Specialized Balsa Wood, LLC. This is still a
smaller company so orders are handled on a case by case basis. Most
products are cut on demand instead of being readily in stock. Usually
square balsa sticks and standard balsa sheets are kept in stock throughout
the year. |

Determining shipping costs: Shipping costs are determined by
the following information.
- Balsa weighs on average 12 pounds per cubic foot.
- There are 1728 cubic inches in a cubic foot.
- Packaging materials usually weigh 1 pound for the average 36 inch
order.
- It costs the average customer pays $5.50 for handling charges to successfully send a
package with the following steps in mind: custom box, excessive
packaging material to help prevent dents, print label and invoice, double checking
invoice manually, delivery of the package to the appropriate mailing
facility including gas, money, time, postage, and the cost of the packaging
materials themselves.
- International orders must be shipped by USPS in most cases unless
there is an alternative shipping line at a lesser cost.
- An average package requires 1 additional inch of space around the
products that are being shipped. Example: a block measuring
4x4x48 inches would be placed in a box that is approximately 5x5x49
inches to minimize damage to the products being shipped.
