The Balsa Wood Strength Tester is excellent for finding out the overall strength for various densities of balsa, critical length (the length where a material will fail due to the failure of the material itself and not by bowing), and the most resistant grain structures to bowing in compression.

This product was designed by hobby enthusiasts who wanted to find out for themselves which glue was the best for their wood building projects. To test glues, 1/8th by 1/8th inch balsa wood samples of 1.5 inches in length or more are glued together to form an x. The glue joint is then placed under controlled pressure until the joint fails.
